Brilliant industry-grade facilities
You’ll get to work with a variety of equipment including oscilloscopes, controllers and wireless sensors, plus a range of other instrumentation, so you can work on your projects independently. We even have our own printed board and robotic soldering facilities. Our courses will also give you the opportunity to use industry-leading software, including Matlab, Pip and Triple PB3, ensuring you’re using the most current tools to gain a competitive edge in the workplace.
Common engineering first year to build a strong foundation
At Brunel, every engineering student across all five disciplines (aerospace, chemical, civil, electronic and electrical and mechanical and automotive engineering) follow the same first year, so you’ll learn the fundamentals of each subject before continuing with your chosen specialism for the next years. This will give you an unusually broad understanding of engineering principles.

Industrial placements, although not compulsory, are integral to our undergraduate courses. They will bring your studies to life, giving you excellent work experience and contacts. Our close proximity to many of the UK’s biggest electronics and telecommunications employers – in London and along the M4 corridor – means our placement network is second to none. Recently our students have taken placements with high-profile companies like ARM, BMW, IBM, Centrica, Intel, Mercedes, Microsoft, Motorola, National Grid, Siemens, SSE, 3M and UK Power Networks. Our academics and career advisers will give you guidance and support you during your placement search, from writing your CV to getting prepared for interviews and assessments. They also will be there for you while you're on your placement year if you need any help or support.

This event celebrates student achievements and provides the opportunity to network with key industry figures and employers, with leading companies invited to view, judge, and award prizes. In electronic and electrical engineering, diverse career opportunities await you in a rapidly growing field, with our recent graduates finding roles in prominent organisations like IBM, the BBC, Intel, Microsoft, National Grid, and Siemens.
