MHA Communities West London is a charity providing a whole range of support and services for older people, such as social activities and events, supported outings, befriending arrangements, interest groups, signposting, and other services that enable older people to remain actively involved in their local community. The organisation has care homes, retirement living communities, and MHA Communities schemes across the UK, with fifteen sites in North, South, and West London.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will operate a vehicle to transport people, goods, or materials from one location to another. As a volunteer driver, you will learn a set of skills such as safe driving practices, navigation, time management, communication, customer service, problem-solving, adaptability, stress management, attention to detail, and navigation tools.

Typical duties include:

  • Collecting grocery shopping and dropping it off
  • Providing transportation to community group activities helping passengers to get in and out of the vehicle safely
  • Conducting routine safety checks on the vehicle before and after each trip, ensuring that it's in good working condition
  • Planning efficient routes using navigation tools, maps, or GPS devices to reach destinations in a timely manner

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
