On Saturday 26th May seven BCAST staff and PhD students, two BCAST family members and a Constellium Research staff member based at BCAST’s Advanced Metal Casting Centre, took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. Race for Life is a female only national charity 10km run, walk or jog around Regents Park, London to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Dr Chamini Mendis, Dr Shohreh Khorsand, Dr Elizabeth Hinton, Samantha Melvin, Chrysoula Tzileroglou, Stephanie Kennedy, Jiao Fang, Graham Mitchell’s wife, Sheila and daughter, Natalie and Dr Paula Camean Queijo all took part in the race wearing custom-made pink tutus. The group managed to raise a whooping £1,633 (plus £313.25 in gift aid) for their efforts. All members of the group completed the race in under 1 hour 40 minutes, with the fastest time of 1 hour 10 minutes completed by Shohreh, very closely followed by Paula.

Well done to all of those involved for raising money for such a great cause! If you would like to make a contribution the BCASTette’s donations page is still open.
