Advanced Professional Practice (APP) programme

Our full-time Advanced Professional Practice (APP) courses are designed to support experienced healthcare professionals develop their skills in advanced practice to become future leaders in their clinical area of expertise. Appropriate for many members of the inter-disciplinary team, our focus is mainly in areas of rehabilitation, from the hyper-acute to the community.

This programme is full-time study and therefore is suited to those taking a short break from their clinical work. Through the programme, you'll develop your advanced patient assessment skills, complex decision-making skills, and professional expertise to develop into an autonomous practitioner. Additionally, you'll learn how to improve the capabilities of an interdisciplinary team and, through research-informed decisions, enhance service delivery in order to improve your patients' quality of care.

APP (Advanced Professional Practice)

This full time programme will enhance your clinical knowledge and develop your research skills to enable you to critically reflect on your practice in various areas of rehabilitation, thereby optimising your clinical practice and enhancing service delivery

APP (Cardiovascular Health)

Gain knowledge, practical, leadership and research skills in the area of cardiovascular health and enhance your career opportunities - whether this be in clinical practice, academic research, leadership, or community health and wellbeing

APP (Critical Care)

On this course, you’ll develop advanced assessment and clinical reasoning skills for the acute management and rehabilitation of critically ill patients from intensive care units through to their discharge

APP (Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation)

This course is designed for physiotherapists who wish to further develop their skills and expertise as an advanced or specialist clinical practitioner across a range of musculoskeletal (MSK) healthcare settings here in the UK and abroad

APP (Neurorehabilitation)

This full-time programme will develop and enhance your clinical expertise, and develop your research skills to enable you to critically reflect on your practice in neurorehabilitation, thereby optimising your clinical practice and enhancing service delivery

APP (Pelvic Health)

This pathway in pelvic health, is designed to provide you with the advancing skills in assessment, diagnosis and patient management to progress as an advanced clinician to provide conservative management of pelvic floor dysfunction. You’ll explore links between research, theory, policy and practice, and how to apply them to optimise practice and service delivery
