The Auction House: A Tale of Two Brothers film screening

Current Brunel Anthropology Masters student and recently selected 'Film Ambassador' for the Royal Anthropological Institute Seyed Samavati presents the screening of 'The Auction House', on 7 February 2017, 5-7 pm in LECT 064.

As part of the UK-wide RAI film festival 2017, Brunel University London will screen the award-winning film based in India.

"The oldest auction house in India is fighting for survival in the age of eBay and a changing Calcutta. Its two owners, brothers Anwer and Arshad, struggle to save their family business, which still brings together people from across Indian society to this day. Against the backdrop of the brothers’ heartfelt and amusing relationship, the magical world of the auction house is uniquely placed to provide an intimate insight into the challenges and contradictions of making a living in a country of one billion people".
