Professor Pitelis at Top 50 Chinese Brands Event at House of Commons

On 24th May, Professor Pitelis attended the top 50 Chinese brands event organised by WPP and hosted by Lord Wei of Shoreditch at the House of Commons. Key note speakers included Sir Martin Sorrell and David Roth, Founding and current Chairs respectively of the Global advisory board of the Centre for international business and management (Cibam) directed by Prof Pitelis, as well as Ms Laura Xiong, of JD.com, a recent entry to the Top 50 list exceeding the size of Amazon. Sir Martin Sorrell's talk zeroed in on the challenges posed by the trend for short term outcomes and under investment by large corporates, also linking these to corporate governance structures and approaches. All speakers emphasised the importance of branding on corporate performance.
