Economics and Finance student wins first place at prestigious Conference poster competition
Nahla Samargandi, an Economics and Finance PhD candidate at Brunel University placed first in the Economics and Business Studies poster competition at this years’ 7th Saudi Students Conference-UK. The SSC UK is sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education and Al-Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University.
The purpose of the Saudi Student Conference is to foster exchange experiences between Saudi and British universities and colleges, Saudi and British national research centres, companies and many key policymakers of education.
Nahla’s research poster investigated ‘Financial development and economic growth in an oil-rich economy: The case of Saudi Arabia’. On receiving her award Nahla stated that the “competition was intense and referees assessed all participants’ posters carefully. It was a very nice feeling to win the best Economics and Business award poster prize, especially after all the work I’ve put in. I would like to thank my supervisors Professor Sugata Ghosh and Dr Jan Fidrmuc for their support during my time at Brunel.”
