Why study Flood and Coastal Engineering at Brunel?

Learn how to protect the communities who are vulnerable to flooding with a Flood and Coastal Engineering degree.

As the UK is facing a shortage in skilled engineers specialising in flood and coastal management, Brunel has developed degrees alongside the Environment Agency which are designed to be a pathway directly to a career once you graduate.

The first 20 places are fully funded by the Environment Agency and all Flood and Coastal Engineering foundation degree students at Brunel have guaranteed accommodation on-campus, which allows you to focus on your studies and gather the skills you need to enter the workforce.

Your first step is the two-year foundation degree. The first six months of each year is spent in the classroom, and the second six months of each year is spent on a work placement with the Environment Agency at a location of your choosing. Once you complete the foundation degree, you can either opt to do the one-year BSc top-up or you can go straight into a professional role.
