Progression onto Future Studies
To progress onto your academic course at Brunel you will need to pass the Pre-sssional course and achieve the required BrunELT score to meet the language requirements for your academic programme. You will usually not need to take any other English Test.
Here at the Brunel Language Centre, our aim is to help our students achieve the English Language scores they need to progress onto their chosen academic course.
Improving language skills can take time. The length of English Language course that a student requires will be determined by their current English Language level in addition to the entry requirements for their chosen academic course.
To help you decide how many weeks English Language you will need to undertake please use the tables available here. Remember that these are for guidance only. For specific advice please feel free to send your most recent English Language qualification to email@example.com
Changes to IELTS test centres from April 2015
If you need to undertake a Pre-sessional English course at Brunel University London in order to meet the entry requirements for your chosen degree course and you do not have a valid IELTS taken before April 6 2015, you MUST sit a new version of the IELTS test that is called the ‘IELTS test for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) purposes’. This is because you will only be able to apply for a Tier 4 student visa for a Pre-sessional English course if you hold an ‘IELTS for UKVI’ from a UKVI approved test centre. To book a UKVI recognised IELTS at a UKVI approved centre, visit http://ielts.org/ and select a country under: Applying for a UK visa? Find a test.
Please note: some IELTS centres run both kinds of Academic IELTS so you must make sure you book the UKVI recognised Academic IELTS called ‘IELTS test for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) purposes’.
You will only be able to apply for a Tier 4 student visa to undertake a Pre-sessional English course if you take the ‘IELTS for UKVI’ test.
To apply for a Pre-sessional course you must first have:
- Applied for your main academic course
- Taken a recognised English qualification, such as IELTS (students who require a Tier 4 visa must hold an 'Academic IELTS for UKVI' certificate)
- Checked to see which Pre-sessional course is most suitable for you
Please note the minimum age for all Brunel Language Centre courses is 17
Once you have done this you can Apply online Here
