Details of the Charity:

Carers Trust Hillingdon is a local charity operating support services for unpaid carers living or caring in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation aims to improve support and recognition for people who are caring for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled, or has mental health or addiction problems.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will support and assist young carers in a café setting by providing them with a safe and supportive space where the young carers can take a break, socialise and access various forms of support. As a Young Carers Café Volunteer, you will become an active listener, and develop your communication skills and effective teamwork skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Interacting with the young people and encouraging them to participate in the activities on offer 
  • Maintaining a tidy and safe environment in the cafe
  • Helping to serve food, snacks, and beverages to young carers
  • Listening to the young care carers and providing them with emotional support

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
