The organisation delivers high-quality healthcare and ensures support for patients at every stage of life, including health visits for new-borns, community nursing, stroke rehabilitation, and palliative care for individuals nearing the end of their lives.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be providing support to staff to facilitate different activities and increase engagement for the patients and their careers. As a Ward Befriender, you will acquire skills such as empathy, compassion, active listening, sensitivity, and adaptability.
Typical duties include:
- Assisting staff in organising and facilitating engagement activities for patients and their carers
- Building a rapport with the patients by offering companionship and actively listening
- Collaborating with the inpatient team to maintain a safe environment for patients, carers, and staff
- Providing emotional support and listening to patients and their carers
Please note, this organisation requires a minimum 6 months commitment for 4 hours per week in addition to two references and a DBS check (fully funded).
