CBASS Summer Schools

COVID-19 Update: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the CBASS 2020 summer schools were cancelled. In 2021, there are virtual opportunities available, details can be found below.

About

The College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences (CBASS) began its summer school programme in 2016. The College provides a number of summer school activities ranging from Law to Arts & Humanities and hosts schools on campus, as well as offering students the chance to go abroad. Outgoing summer schools are open to all first and second year CBASS students. The incoming summer schools take place on campus and are open to students from across the globe.

Outgoing International Summer Schools

The College has run a number of international summer schools each year since 2016 with partner universities in China and India; more recently, we have also developed a summer school partnership in Colombia. These two-week summer schools, open to all first and second year CBASS students, are allocated on the basis of merit and all the participants receive scholarships to cover the cost of their tuition and accommodation.

In collaboration with partner universities in each respective country, students take part in an immersive experience which sees them taking language classes and studying lessons in local history religion and politics, as well as visiting sites across the surrounding region.

During their time abroad, students are encouraged to keep a blog as a record of their daily activities and something to reflect on in the future and to share with friends and family. The blogs from previous years are available to read below and contain images and videos taken by students.

International Summer School: China

In July of 2016 and 2017, students from CBASS set off to China to take part in a summer school at the Dalian University of Foreign Languages in Northeast China.
