Department of Computer Science - Research Centres
The Department is an interdisciplinary centre that includes researchers with a range of backgrounds including computer science, engineering, mathematics, and psychology. We carry out rigorous world-leading applied research in a range of related topics including software engineering, intelligent data analysis, human computer interaction, information systems, and systems biology. Much of our research relates to two main domains: healthcare/biomedical informatics and digital economy/business. We have long-standing fruitful collaborations with many user organisations and we publish in top journals, including over 60 papers in IEEE/ACM Transactions between 2008-2013. In the 2014 REF, 65% of our research was rated as internationally excellent or world leading.
Research within the Department is organised into a range of Research Groups:
- Brunel Software Engineering Lab
- Digital Economy Research Group
- Intelligent Data Analysis Research Group
- Interactive Multimedia Systems Research Group
- Modelling & Simulation Group
Academic members of the Department also carry out research within University Research Institutes:
- Institute of Energy Futures
- Institute of Environment, Health and Societies
- Institute of Materials and Manufacturing
