Summary
After a number of years working in industrial R&D labs, I worked in Further Education for about two years before joining Brunel in January 2010. I worked in the taught programmes offices, mostly involved with Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences course administration and taking a keen interest in mitigating circumstances. I spent six months on secondment as an Awards Officer.
From January 2017 I worked as Senior Events Coordinator, CHMLS, supporting the organisation of a wide range of College events.
Appointed Senior Engagement Officer in CMSR (now MCR) in June 2022.
Level 4 Project Management Apprenticeship - Distinction grade, completed December 2022. I passed the Association for Project Management Project Management Qualitfication (APM PMQ) in September 2021.
In a typical week I will be on campus Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. This is subject to change accoridng to circumstances.
Responsibility
June 2022 - present. Senior Engagement Officer, MCR
Showcasing Brunel's research activities and supporting Brunel's research culture through a range of high profile events such as Public Lectures, Research Festival and more.
Coordination of all necessary logistics. Assistance/advice to research colleagues organising their own events. Associated activities such as web editing and social media promotion.
I have set up an informal network: Brunel Events Community. This group is open to anyone involved with event organisation to share good practice and help eachother resolve challenges. Contact me for more information.
January 2017 - June 2022 Senior Events Coordinator, CHMLS
- Support the organisation of Health Sciences selection days, including:
- liaison with admissions tutors regarding dates and room requirements
- liaison with CMSR regarding campus tours, "goody bags" and other matters reating to selection days
- arranging printing of materials such as programmes and signage
- liaise with Main Reception and Portering as appropriate
- Support the organisation of College-Wide events, such as Education Day, Staff Challenge, Social events and Staff Development Days
- Support the organisation of one-off events and conferences hosted by the College
- Hands on, in-depth involvement or advisory only, depending on requirements
- Liaison/advice regarding Conference team, Portering, Catering, etc
- Contribute, as appropriate to University events such as the Garden Party
- Support the delivery of on-line and hybrid events
- Line manager to Apprentice Events Assistant who was the Zoom webinar licence holder for CHMLS
