Summary

I am a mature student with a background in genetics, clinical physiology and mathematics. My research at Brunel is based on spiking neural networks and how they interact with next generation computer arithmetic systems. In particular, I am focussing on a replacement for floating-point representations called posits. Posit arithmetic has a higher numerical accuracy than FP and is showing promising results in making scientific computing far more efficient by reducing the number of bits required for a computation, without (or minimally) affecting the accuracy of results.
