Advise a Brunel Intern

Could you be an Alumni Mentor? We are looking for experienced professionals to support a new and exciting summer internship scheme targeting students from under-represented backgrounds. As an Alumni Mentor you would be available by email and/or phone during working hours to offer advice and guidance to a student on an internship. Please note, you will not need to provide the internship itself, but simply be on hand to answer relevant questions about working in your industry.

How the scheme works
Following a competitive interview, successful students embark on an eight-week paid internship between June and September. The University provide ongoing day-to-day support via a designated Internship Mentor. We anticipate that interns will have specific queries about an industry and/or sector as well as questions about pursuing a particular career. An Alumni Mentor can provide up to date advice directly to each intern on a short term basis. This method of mentoring is sometimes referred to as ‘Spot’ or ‘SMART’ Mentoring.

If you are interested in joining our Alumni Panel to advise an intern, contact Bertie Ross (Mentoring Co-ordinator) bertie.ross@brunel.ac.uk
