Alex is a tech entrepreneur working in several markets including nanotechnology, chemistry, biotech and B2B voice recognition. He is a founder of Oxford nanoSystems (OnS), a nanotechnology company developing coatings to improve energy efficiency in multiple areas including air conditioning and refrigeration systems and improve hydrogen generation in electrolysers.He is on the Royal Society of Chemistry Professional Standards Board and works with several start-ups around the south of the UK to help their early-stage growth through investment readiness and develop their ongoing technology strategy. Developing his skills in both deep tech and early-stage management has given him an ability to easily translate scientific terminology for any audience. He has presented at numerous events including pitching at Buckingham Palace.He is passionate about developing the skills of young scientists and engineers having helped develop the Science portfolio of T-Levels for the Department of Education and recently winning an Enginuity Skills Award for his work in creating an internship and placement scheme for students at OnS.Currently he is working as CTO and Director of Oxford nanoSystems having stepped down from the CEO role in 2020 to allow time for his extra activities. He is the Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence for Brunel University working to develop an Open Innovation approach as well as advising spinouts and is a member of the university’s Commercialisation Panel.He is also a Brunel Alumni having completed his PhD in Materials concurrently to founding OnS.His work has taken him across the world working in different sectors and has gained experience in launching advertising, brands or store designs in Europe, the United States, Middle East, Africa and Asia. This experience all started following gaining a BA in Product Design at Brunel University which led him into the world of store design, marketing and branding
