Is there an option to freeze my Membership?

  • All cancellations requests, membership upgrades/downgrades and freezes have to be emailed to gym@brunel.ac.uk. Cancellations requests must still be received by email with 30 days’ notice, whilst membership upgrades/downgrades and freezes have to be received in writing 10 days before the your next payment date if they are to come into effect for the following month.

I have purchased an Annual membership, can this be frozen?

  • Annual members Existing Annual memberships are restricted from freezing membership and should email gym@brunel.ac.uk 

Can I just turn up and use the gym?

  •  Pay As You Train £7 is subject to capacity and you must come to reception to book and pay for an allocated gym slot (card payments only).

What safety measures are in place when I arrive?

To ensure everyone’s safety, we ask that you do not attend if you have covid symptoms or feel ill at all.

  • We are still implement extra cleaning procedures with your safety in mind
  • Sanitation points are available throughout the gym for your reassurance
  • For safety of everyone, we do ask that you wipe down your own equipment and replace weights back on racks yourself after each use
  • Please bring minimum belongings with you,  and use the lockers onsite for storage of persoanl items, we cannot do not accept responsibility for your lost or stolen item in the gym areas. 
  • Toilets / Changing rooms / Showers will be available.
  • CO2 monitors have been installed to indicate sufficient airflow with the facility

•How can I join the gym as a new member?

•What about if I miss a payment on my Membership?

  • Please ensure you contact gym@brunel.ac.uk who can explain how to settle any outstanding payments on your account.

•What notice do I need to give if I want to leave?

Memberships are subject to a one month minimum contract. Any members wishing to cancel must provide 30 days notice via email to gym@brunel.ac.uk. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund annual memberships except in the circumstances outlined in the memberships terms and conditions

•Can I put my membership on hold over the summer as a student?

Yes student members are able to freeze their membership between 1st June and 31st August providing the student notifies the gym team in advance of 1st May.

•Are classes included in my membership?

Yes, all fitness classes are included in your membership type (i.e. off peak members can only attend classes during off peak hours). 

•Can I qualify for Members of the Defence Community?

Any serving personnel should use their MOD 90 (Service ID card) for evidence of eligibility; service families to show their Defence Discount Service (DDS) card and Veterans to have a specific ID card.

•How do I book onto a class?

Book classes via the Brunel Sport app up to 7 days in advance.

•How much do fitness classes cost for non-members?

30 minute classes are £5, 45 minute classes are £6 and specialist classes such as Yoga and Pilates are £7.50.

•How do I cancel a class booking?

You can do this via the Brunel Sport app where you made your original booking.

•Can I bring a friend?

Pay As you Train (non-members) can pay £7 per visit.

•What is the minimum age to join?

You must be 16 to join the Brunel Sport Gym however membership for anyone under the age of 18 needs to be agreed with the Gym Management who you can contact  gym@brunel.ac.uk

•Do you offer Corporate memberships?

Yes. Please enquire directly with our gym team on 01895 265305 or gym@brunel.ac.uk

•Do I have to have an induction?

•How can I give feedback to the gym?

We welcome all feedback and you can do so by either speaking to a member of staff or email gym@brunel.ac.uk.

•What should I wear?

  • Please wear clean gym clothes & trainers and bring a water bottle. 

•Do you have showers / changing facilities?

Our changing rooms & showers are open.  Toilets are open as to are lockers which are available in the Sports Centre.

•Is there parking available?

Yes. Parking is free of charge to public members although parking restrictions are in force from 8am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday so you must register for a parking permit at reception during these hours. NB During the working day, it can sometimes be harder to find a space in the Sports Centre car park but this becomes much easier after 4:30pm.
