Hounslow Action For Youth is a charity designed to prevent disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people from engaging in crime or anti-social behaviour by providing stimulating activities and personalised support to improve their education and learning, identifying and encouraging their strengths and passions so that they can become active citizens, reach their full potential and have better chances in life. The organisation operates across the London Borough of Hounslow but target three disadvantaged wards: Feltham, Bedfont, Hanworth.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will guide young people in their personal development, career goal-setting, and business/enterprise ideas. As a Youth Careers Mentor, you'll acquire valuable skills in youth development, leadership, and mentorship.
Typical duties include:
- Helping young people to set goals aligned to their career aspirations
- Assisting young people with their resumes, cover letters, and job applications
- Offering mentorship and encouragement to young entrepreneurs
- Sharing information about educational opportunities and training programs
Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
