Hillingdon Foodbank - Warehouse Assistant

Details of the Charity:

Hillingdon Foodbank is a charity providing three days’ of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to families going through difficult times and crises in the Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation is part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Truss all Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will be involved in supporting the food bank team in sorting, weighing, and packing their food donations to get them ready for distribution. You will acquire skills such as organisational skills, teamwork, speed, and accuracy.

Typical duties include:

  • Ensuring that all warehousing procedures and processes are followed as per the foodbank operating manual
  • Receiving food donations from members of the public and thank them
  • Ensuring that incoming stock is checked, weighed, and recorded
  • Sorting food by date and type, removing any items that are damaged or out-of-date and weighing these out separately

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
