An unconventional journey

Starting a career in social work might lead you in directions you didn’t expect.

Jill ThorburnThis at least was the case for Jill Thorburn who after working for 25 years in a variety of roles in social work ranging from front line to senior management and from statutory services to the private sector, found herself founding Mind of My Own. The apps developed by Mind of My Own are designed and conscientiously co-produced with young people for young people and help them to better communicate with their social workers and other professionals involved in their care. Jill shared her personal story about how she got into social work and her career path leading from front line child protection to heading a technology start-up.
