Social Work Seminar: creating a 'safe container' for practitioners

The Division of Social Work had the pleasure of hosting Stephen Moss on Monday, 5 November as part of our Social Work Seminar Series. Stephen’s lecture explored ways of creating a 'safe container' for practitioners to work with vulnerable people in a system under pressure. The lecture attempted to apply psychodynamic ideas originating from family systems theory onto contemporary large organisations in which many social workers are employed.

Stephen started his career as a social worker almost 40 years ago and had a rich and diverse career. Since 1987 he has been working as a consultant for a variety of organisations. Alongside his consultancy work, Stephen is involved in several community art projects. Recently he has produced Pattern Up, a community theatre project currently on show.

You can listen to the recording of Stephen’s lecture here.
