"Will I have any time to enjoy myself and go out?!" This is something we all ask ourselves before starting university, because, let’s be honest, we know university is not the same as high school. So… how much free time do you have at uni? Well, I guess it varies depending on your degree and how you organise yourself. However, I can tell you that if you know how to plan your week and make an effort to balance your life, you can definitely have a social life, have lots of fun and try new things.

How much free time do I have?

Personally, I was able to do a lot, although there were some weeks when I didn’t have as much free time as I wanted. What I would always do was make notes of my modules every week and keep up to date with all of them so I wouldn’t fall behind. And I think that, by making your notes every week, you are already -somehow- going over the content you were given at the lecture. Once my notes were made, I usually had the evening, sometimes the afternoon free to go to the gym, join a society and go to its sessions, go cheerleading, watch Netflix, meet with friends, etc. And what about the weekends? Well, often I would catch up with anything I had behind on one of the days of the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday so that I would have the other day to simply relax or do some plans to go out depending on my energy levels.

Things to do during your free time:

Now, if you are debating what to do in your free time there are all kinds of lovely activities you can do:

1. Join a society and/ or sports club.

2. Go to the gym: we have to keep ourselves fit and healthy ;)

3. Go with your friends to the restaurants you can find at Brunel in the Hamilton centre.

4. Learn to play music or draw at the Arts Centre on campus.

5. Go to Dowding Park to have a picnic with your friends or play something.

6. Go to Central London and discover its many mysteries and beauties.

This is only a list of a few activities, it is up to you and what you enjoy doing most. One thing is for sure, living in London can be a great adventure if you want it to be, there will always be something to do or somewhere new to visit, you just need to know how to find it and I may know how…

Hehehe, I just like suspense a little too much. Okay here it is, there is an app called “Bindy Street” and I 100% recommend it. You can put what you are interested in and it will show you all types of events, places and discounts around London and your area.

That’s all from me. The question now is: Are you ready to start your adventure at Brunel?
