Commercial services team strikes gold with Investors in People

Brunel’s commercial services team have been awarded gold, the highest Investors in People accreditation, for their commitment to realising the potential of their employees.

More than 300 staff work for the university’s commercial services directorate, covering accommodation, residencies, housing, conferencing, retail, sport, site services, the Lancaster Hotel and the Science Park.

Assessors said they were impressed with the continuous improvement strategy, driven by director Tracy Strachan, which encourages everyone to volunteer new ideas and contribute to improving the organisation’s performance.

Tracy said: "I’m delighted that the team have achieved such a prestigious award and been recognised for their hard work and dedication to Brunel University London. Only 2 per cent of companies in the world achieve gold and our strive for continuous improvement will ensure we keep it."

The team were joined by Vice Chancellor Professor Julia Buckingham at a gala award ceremony at the Tower of London last week, at which they were highly commended by Head of Investors in People Paul DeVoy, who said: “It’s amazing that the gold award has been achieved so quickly, it’s a real credit to Brunel University London.”

Investor in People is an accreditation scheme designed to help businesses improve through people management.
