CCTV surveillance and narrative in the smart city

This project looks at the proposals for and practice of ubiquitous CCTV coverage in urban areas. It might understand these practices as amounting to a kind of documentary film studio. The project would explore questions around political subjectivity and citizenship, in relation to densely networked urban structures.

I would be happy for prospective students to take up these themes and propose their own project, the above is just one idea. Generally, I am interested in projects that take up themes related to remote sensing, computation, technical networks, and political subjectivity, geopolitics, political economy and spatial practice. Suitable students would hold an MA in a subject related to spatial practices. Film, Architecture, Engineering, Urbanism, Design, for example. Other students might be eligible thanks to practical experience in a professional capacity.
