What is Brunel Professional Mentoring?

  • Brunel Professional Mentoring Programme is a career focused mentoring scheme and is part of the Professional Development Centre (PDC). It is one of the Widening Participation and Progression (WPP) schemes and iniatives. The scheme consists of two main strands; face-to-face mentoring and e-mentoring. Both strands target Home UK/EU undergraduates at Level 2 & 3 from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • E-mentoring is a new and exciting addition to the programme and is delivered through the MentorNet platform. Online mentoring offers a lighter touch mentoring option that allow mentors and students more flexibility around their busy schedules.
  • The Ethnic Minority Undergraduate Scheme (EMUS) is another feature of the programme. EMUS targets students from ethnic minority backgrounds and is managed in collaboration with the National Mentoring Consortium (NMC).
  • All strands draw on experienced individuals from employers in the private and public sectors.  Over 40 employers currently support the scheme including, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Blake Morgan LLP, GlaxoSmithKline, HM Revenue & Customs, Jaguar Land Rover, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Government Legal Service and Brunel University London.
