Co-Innovate | Brunel Business School

Jointly funded by Brunel University London and the European Regional Development fund, Co-Innovate provides support and innovation for London-based SMEs, entrepreneurs and start-ups.

The aim of the programme is to help these companies and individuals achieve business growth through collaboration with Brunel University. As well as providing world class academic expertise, the sharing of knowledge assets and facilities, it gives our students a chance to flex their creative thinking and share their ideas in a real-world setting. It’s a win-win situation for everyone as the students gain experience in working to a brief with a client before graduation, and the client gets to see their business challenges and solutions through a different lens.

How does it work?

There are two project paths according to the needs of the business:

Co-Innovate Journeys
Providing support to SMEs

We support with the tools necessary to help innovate, differentiate and compete successfully in the market through collaborative projects with academics and students. Brunel creates tailored workshops, helps with access to specialised research facilities, and in finding innovation funding.

Co-Innovate Bridging the Gap (BtG)
Supporting start-ups and entrepreneurs

Providing collaboration that helps launch, scale and grow innovative ventures. Through mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and flexible training programmes to fast-track an idea, BtG can help drive business forward. The project can also help with pitching opportunities to raise awareness and collaboration with students and academics to refine ideas.

How do Brunel Business School students contribute?

Both undergraduates and postgraduates can contribute marketing and financial and business strategy. The experience of collaborating can then become a valuable part of your final year project or dissertation.

All potential projects and the intellectual property arrangements are carefully discussed with the collaborating company, while students are offered weekly support and guidance from their tutor.
