Space weather

For the successful use of CCDs in space it is necessary to have a detailed understanding of the space radiation environment and its effects on their operation. The group has over 20 years combined experience in the computational modelling of the space radiation environment for a number of mission orbits and profiles, backed up by experimental testing of CCDs to assess their performance and operation following radiation damage.

Example missions include: Gaia, XMM-Newton, Chandrayaan-1, GeoSCIA, ExoMars
