Mr Minhajul Hussain
PhD Student
Summary
Minhajul Hussain is a part-time PhD researcher in Artificial Intelligence within the Department of Computer Science at Brunel University London. His research focuses on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), explainable AI, and reliable large language model systems. His current work explores verification-aware AI architectures designed to improve the factual grounding, transparency, and trustworthiness of generative AI systems through sentence-level evidence inspection and lightweight control mechanisms.
Alongside his doctoral research, Minhajul has over a decade of industry experience as a Data Engineer, working across large-scale data platforms, cloud technologies, and production AI/data systems. His wider interests include interpretable AI, cognitive-inspired AI systems, human-centred machine learning, and the development of trustworthy conversational agents for real-world applications.
His ongoing PhD research investigates how AI systems can better explain their reasoning processes, identify unsupported or contradictory information, and improve the reliability of generated responses in knowledge-intensive environments.
