Our staff

Our staff work across the Creative Sector and have both academic and Industry experience.

Our roles as academics at Brunel University London are fascinating – we have a teaching responsibility to our students but many of us are also practitioners and researchers into our fields which leads to a broad range of expertise.

We have colleagues who have researched topics such as Racial Equality in the Arts or at the other end of the spectrum the impact of the character Mario to Italian Culture.  Our interests range from the use of space in local high streets to how VR can enhance heritage projects.

It’s easy to think of staff as ‘stuffy’ or ‘just here to write books’ but our work spans performances, games, films, compositions and more.  Equally many of us produce work that is much more practise focussed for the commercial sector working on creative marketing, video games and novels.  Where that’s often especially productive is the interactions we can have with one another to integrate different disciplines.

For example, currently members of our Games Department are working with psychologists and sports scientists to create interactive activities. Our Film and Television students are working with local companies to produce video content for the web and our Journalism department are producing the wonderful Hillingdon Herald, a local newspaper that is distributed across the area.

Working with members of the public and those external to Brunel is important to us all and we are always interested in collaborative working – if you’re not sure how or where to get started you can get in touch with the Creative Industries Hub here
