CFF Aims
The current food production and consumption habits, underpinned by neoliberal capitalistic rationalities, has resulted in several negative environmental impacts such as increased CO2 emissions, as well as massive amounts of food waste. There is growing consensus that the only way forward with sustainable production and development is to switch from the current industrial “linear” model to a circular economy (CE), offering tools to reduce waste generated in the food chain, including re-use/usage of food by-products and waste, and nutrient recycling to establish an efficient and sustainable food supply chain. However, there is a lack of data, fragmented knowledge base, disjointed collaborative platform across the food supply chain, which could be integrated in a productive CE cycle. A formal forum is required to provide a platform for stakeholders the opportunity to meet, discuss and find ways how to cost-effectively use, re-use or recycle food waste.
The aim of Circular Food Forum is to establish itself as a foremost centre for research and dissemination on the circular economy by bringing together interdisciplinary academic and industrial team.
Aims of CFF
- Bringing circular economy concept to the forefront of research agenda involving diverse stakeholders (academic, industry, policy makers, etc.)
- Work together with businesses to implement circular economy principles
- Develop educational programmes pertaining to circular economy
- Provide executive training program on the circular economy for industries
- Establish a communication platform to disseminate new findings and interaction
