Professor Fiona Verity
Professor - Social Work

Research area(s)

My research focus is broadly on social development, which includes community development and social policy. I have been part of collaborative research teams undertaking research in Australia, Wales, England, Indonesia and Uganda.  This research has included studies about the following topics; community impacts of the closure of a car manufacturing industry; refining a community based mental health intervention; community development in childhood obesity prevention; social policy evaluations; and the evaluation of health and social care integration. I worked on the evaluation of the implementation of the Welsh Social Services and Wellbeing Wales Act (SSWB), and am currently part of the team evaluating the Welsh Government Regional Integration Fund (RIF).

For many years I have worked to support the development of social care research capacity, which includes supporting practitioner research and developing evidence enriched practice drawing on diverse forms of knowledge.

I am involved in the Developing Evidence Enriched Practice Programme (DEEP) Welcome (deepcymru.org)
